Ingredients

8 oz egg noodles

1 can (15 oz) tuna in water, drained

1 cup frozen peas

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup milk

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Boil the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Mix the Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well blended.

Combine Ingredients: Add the drained tuna, frozen peas, and cooked egg noodles to the sauce mixture. Stir gently to combine everything evenly.

Cheese It Up: Fold in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, allowing it to melt slightly into the warm mixture.

Prepare the Casserole Dish: Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish with olive oil or butter. Pour the noodle mixture into the dish and spread it evenly.

Top with Breadcrumbs: In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese with the breadcrumbs. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the casserole, ensuring it is evenly distributed.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your homestyle tuna noodle bake!
