Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon pumpkin spice (or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

    Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the chopped bittersweet chocolate together with the butter. Stir until smooth, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

      Mix Brownie Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted chocolate mixture. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.

          Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry mixture to the chocolate mixture and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Set aside.

            Prepare Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and pumpkin spice until smooth. Mix in the pumpkin puree until well combined.

              Layer Brownie Batter and Pumpkin Mixture: Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of the pumpkin cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie layer, then use a knife or toothpick to swirl it together gently. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top, repeating the drop-and-swirl process with the remaining pumpkin mixture.

                Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                  Cool & Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
