To achieve the perfect savory filling for your Ham & Cheese Pinwheels, start with the cream cheese mixture. Softening the cream cheese is crucial for a smooth and spreadable consistency. This can be done easily by taking the cream cheese out of the refrigerator and allowing it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can microwave it for about 10-15 seconds, but be cautious not to overheat it, as this can make it too runny.

Ingredients

1 large flour tortilla (10-inch)

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup sliced deli ham

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup baby spinach leaves

1/4 cup chopped green onions

1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Spread the Filling: Lay the flour tortilla flat on a clean surface or cutting board. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture across the entire surface of the tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges.

Layer the Ingredients: On top of the cream cheese layer, arrange the deli ham slices evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the ham, followed by the baby spinach leaves and chopped green onions.

Roll it Up: Starting from one end, carefully roll the tortilla tightly into a log shape. Try to keep the filling inside as you roll. Once you reach the end, gently press the edge to seal.

Slice the Pinwheels: With a sharp knife, slice the rolled tortilla into 1-inch thick pinwheels. You should get about 10-12 slices depending on how thick you cut them.

Serve: Arrange the pinwheels on a platter. They can be served immediately or refrigerated for about 30 minutes to firm up before serving for a cleaner cut.

Optional Garnish: If desired, garnish with additional chopped green onions or serve with a dipping sauce like ranch or mustard on the side.
