Ingredients

6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with the maple syrup, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until the apples are well-coated. Pour the apple mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly.

In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and walnuts (if using) until the mixture is crumbly and well-blended.

Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples on the baking sheet, ensuring there is a good coverage to create a delicious topping.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crispy.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra cozy touch.
